At Skyline Neuroscience Associates, we are committed to providing quality healthcare in an atmosphere of compassion and understanding. Below is a list of common procedures performed by our neurologists at Skyline Neuroscience Associates. Let us know how we can help answer any questions you may have.

BOTOX®

BOTOX® is an effective therapy to treat patients with cervical dsytonia in adults to decrease the severity of abnormal head and neck pain associated with cervical dystonia. It is also used to treat certain types of eye muscle problems (strabismus) or abnormal spasm of the eyelids (blepharospasm).

When you experience muscle spasms, it means your nerve cells are sending signals directly to your muscles. BOTOX® treatment works by blocking these signals. With BOTOX® neurotoxin, muscle spasms may stop or become greatly reduced, resulting in relief.

Please discuss with your doctor any questions you may have about your treatment.

Electromyogram (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Studies

An electromyogram (EMG) measures the electrical activity of muscles at rest and during contraction. Nerve conduction studies measure how well and how fast the nerves can send electrical signals. Nerves control the muscles in the body by electrical signals (impulses), and these impulses make the muscles react in specific ways. Nerve and muscle disorders cause the muscles to react in abnormal ways.

Measuring the electrical activity in muscles and nerves can help find diseases that damage muscle tissue such as muscular dystrophy or nerves such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or peripheral neuropathies.

Sleep Studies

Sleep disorders involve difficulties related to sleeping, including difficulty falling or staying asleep, falling asleep at inappropriate times, receiving excessive total sleep time or experiencing abnormal behaviors associated with sleep. More than 100 different disorders of sleeping and waking have been identified, and the symptoms and treatment vary and depend on the specific sleep disorder. People who snore loudly, wake frequently to urinate at night and wake up in the morning unrefreshed should be checked for sleep apnea.
